Statement from Nancy G. Brinker on the One-Year Anniversary of the October 7 Attacks in Israel

For Immediate Release

October 7, 2024

“As we mark the one-year anniversary of the tragic October 7 attacks in Israel, I stand in unwavering solidarity with the people of Israel and the Jewish community worldwide. The pain, loss, and fear that followed that day are still deeply felt, but so too is the strength, resilience, and determination of a nation that has long faced adversity.

“This past week, Jewish communities celebrated Rosh Hashanah, the start of the New Year, a time of renewal, reflection, and hope. As we remember the lives lost and the families forever changed by those horrific attacks, we also embrace the spirit of hope that Rosh Hashanah brings—a reminder that even in the darkest times, the light of renewal can shine through. Israel and the Jewish people have shown time and again their remarkable capacity to rebuild and persevere. As a Jew, I know that the bond between Israel and the United States is rooted in shared values of democracy, freedom, and the unwavering pursuit of peace. As we move forward, let us reaffirm our commitment to those values and to ensuring a future where Israel can thrive in safety and security. May this anniversary serve as a reminder to us all of the importance of unity, peace, and the enduring hope for a better tomorrow.”
