Statement from Former Ambassador Nancy G. Brinker on the Start of Rosh Hashanah and Recent Events in Israel
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | October 2, 2024
“Tonight marks the start of Rosh Hashanah, a time of reflection and renewal. We are reminded of our responsibilities not only to ourselves and our loved ones but to our broader communities. This new year calls on us to renew our commitment to good citizenship—standing up for what is right, defending justice, and supporting our neighbors in times of need. Today, we must also unequivocally condemn Iran’s brazen and unprovoked attack against Israel. In the face of terror, we must not forget who we are. Israel, our steadfast ally in the Middle East, has been a beacon of resilience and strength. With our assistance and unwavering cooperation, Israel was able to swiftly defeat this attack, saving countless lives. Our continued support of Israel, and the fight against Anti-Semitism inside our own country, is not just a matter of policy but of principle. Together, we face threats and challenges, and together we will continue to protect the values of freedom and democracy at home and abroad. Let this new year serve as a reminder of the importance of unity, strength, and enduring partnerships.”
